The chances of the floors of any 138-year-old courthouse still being perfectly level are remote. The floors in our courthouse are certainly not. As we have completed all those structural repairs, we are now moving toward applying a leveling compound to the top surfaces of floors. As you may imagine, there are little sags and dips everywhere. This is a type of self-leveling compound that is applied in a very viscous state. There are not big problems with the floor surfaces, but differences of an inch or two across a 20-foot floor will become very noticeable as we start to move furniture back in. These surfaces will be covered with carpet.
