I know this is an exciting detail about the courthouse project. These are simply some of the new drain lines that will carry away the water that runs off the roof. They are 10-inch diameter. I think we will have enough capacity. This little detail is actually the catalyst that started all this courthouse effort back in 2017. The existing drain lines were all plugged for years. The excessive wetness caused by the lack of drainage kept the soil around and under the courthouse saturated. Saturated soil has very little strength (Your foot sinks in mud, but doesn’t sink when that mud is dry soil, right?). That’s why the foundation was moving and cracking, causing the walls to separate from the roof, creating all those roof leaks into the building and other structural damage. It’s a good thing you elected a retired soil and water conservation guy.
