Job Description

Northern Perry County Water Treatment Operator, Field Technician

General Duties

Must be able to maintain and operate a route consisting of water and wastewater treatment plants with little to no supervision. Experience is preferred and must possess the ability to problem solve and take preventative measures. This position will require applicant to work five days a week and possibly overtime. Past experience will be considered. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, holiday pay. Preference given to applicants that currently possess water and / or wastewater treatment license.

Other Duties include but not limited to:

Check water treatment stations and maintain as needed. Observe pumps & water lines in master meter pits and complete charts, maintain as required. Climb up and down ladders to observe pumps and water lines and lift stations to make sure all are operational. Operate backhoe and other machinery as needed, use shovel to dig to water mains to install water taps. Use hand tools necessary to perform duties including shovels, wrenches, ladders, pumps, generators, lawn mowers, meter readers, and other machines or tools as needed. Use probe to locate buried lines. Drive to locations of water meter to electronically read water meters. Dig, enter, and exit trenches always observing safety precautions. Repair water hydrants and leaks. Collect readings, perform monthly and quarterly bacteria tests, and report as required/directed.

Experience & Requirements

License / Certification:
• Driver’s License (Required)
• Wastewater Certification (Preferred)
• Water Certification (Preferred)

Other Information:
Additional duties may be assigned. You must be able to interact appropriately with co-workers, other private and public entities, and the general public. A flexible schedule is required to be available to work on call.

Compensation & Benefits

Job Type: Full-time
Days: Monday – Friday, On Call weekend rotation
Hours: 7 am to 3 pm.

Experience: Wastewater / Water: 1 year (Preferred)
Salary Range: $16.00 – $25.00 based on experience
