The Common pleas courtroom on the second floor will receive very little change. Restoration work is progressing. I already mentioned the roof leak fixed and walls re-plastered in the SW corner. (No sheet rock in this courtroom) The wall ornamentals have been reconstructed where needed and are now painted. Those are molded plaster. Molds for the new pieces were created from originals. The channeling in the solid walls will hide most of the electrical. The triangular ceiling tiles have presented challenges. Many of them were failing, so they will all be replaced. Several will provide space for lighting and HVAC vents. The challenge is: all those triangular areas are different sizes- not a lot, but enough to require each one to be measured and created unique to that spot. They will not be interchangeable. Apparently, the only guy brave enough to work on that ceiling in 1887 couldn’t make sense of all those little marks on the tape measure.
