Most of our work to our courthouse is repairs, followed by restoration. However, there is some code requirement work that is being done as well. One of those requirements is a second stair case. Our historic stairs do not have the proper riser and tread dimensions to meet today’s code requirements, and a second set is a safety feature in case of an emergency of any kind. The new and second set of stairs will be located beside the new elevator tower, taking advantage of the multi-floor opening we had to cut for the elevator. The stairs will be very utilitarian, steel with concrete stair pans. Pics show the super structure.
