Typically, I hold our Coffee with Some Commissioners breakfast meetings on the last Tuesday of each month. However, because the last Tuesday is the day after Memorial Day, and there were a few other conflicts with that date, the breakfast will be this Tuesday May 20th – same start time – 7:30 AM with updated location.

Due to the devastating restaurant fire experienced by the Dodsons we are going to change things up a bit.  Cheryl has been more than gracious to have worked with me for more than eight years to host the monthly breakfast meeting.  We want to continue to support Dodsons on Broadway, so within the Commissioners office we brainstormed a bit and this will be the format for the May 2025 breakfast:

We will meet at Cheryl’s “Gathering Place” just next door to the restaurant at 323 Broadway, in New Lexington.  Individuals from the Commissioners will provide coffee and donuts at no charge to everyone in attendance. All we ask is that you will drop in a donation bucket the money you would have spent on breakfast that day and anything additional you are compelled to donate.

Anyone that knows Cheryl and her family know that they are some of the most giving people you will ever meet. They will not ask for anything from the community. However, this time I think it is time to help them in their time of need.

Coffee with Some Commissioners is open to everyone. I have asked Cheryl to take some time and personally talk with us and explain the magnitude of the fire and the daunting process they are facing to clean up and re-open their popular restaurant.

Even if you don’t have time to join us to have a conversation with Cheryl. Take time to stop by and drop some cash in the donation bucket. Or stop at the Peoples State Bank – they will have a means to donate to the Dodson family as well.

Join us, this coming Tuesday May 20th, get some caffeine, sugar and carbs (aka donuts) and show Cheryl some support while they work to clean up and re-build.
