
Wow, 3:00 PM for a post. You could think I’ve been sleeping in…It’s a Friday, and there is a lot happening inside the courthouse. However, I wanted to share another Friday fun fact- not really a construction update. This is the winding mechanism for the wonderful clock in the tower. The maintenance of this and the clock was being done by Matt Reed and by his grandfather before him. This mechanism will remain; however, we will be installing an auto winder. This new auto winder will not compromise the historic integrity of the clock. It will eliminate the need for the weights. I’ll explain why we decided to take this route in future posts when I have better pics to help explain. This is an amazing example of the mechanical era of the 19th century.
