This monster boiler sits in the basement of the original jail that was attached to the original historic Sheriff’s office building. That boiler was indeed the heat source for the courthouse. The winter of 2022/23 was the last time it was fired. It was not used the winter of 2023/24 or this winter during our restoration project. It will never be used again. The new HVAC systems for the courthouse will be in the attic of the courthouse. This boiler is past its useful life and massively oversized to be used as the heat source for the old SO building. One pick shows the possible basement entrance of that tunnel in the courthouse I showed you in an earlier post. Also, a couple views of some sandstone foundation stones in that building and the obvious erosion of some of the softer stones- just in case anyone thought we were running out of things to worry about.
