I wanted to show the structure of the elevated ground floor area that was/is the municipal court area. The entire floor has been raised about 14 inches. Because of the questionable base under the original concrete, we used this high-density core rather than limestone to reduce the weight. The floor needed to be raised to accommodate utilities (mostly water and sanitary) lines, as well as eliminate the hallway ramp that once existed on that ground floor, complying with current ADA standards. This unfinished corner is the SW corner of the courthouse; it is where the water supply will come into the building.
