I had a good question regarding future placement/replacement of antenna on the courthouse. It’s a good question. The courthouse sits on a hill and is very tall on top of the bell tower. The pics are bore holes and pins that were in place when we started the restoration. This is what provided the base support for the antenna that used to be there. Additional supports were drilled and lagged into the stone further up the tower. Every stone that was bolted to the antenna was loose. The mortar for those stones was cracked or gone. Even with the most minimum stress and movement of an antenna, it will ultimately and once again damage the structure of the tower. This project is to repair and restore the building. We don’t want to do anything that we know will cause accelerated damage. Today, we have much better options for antenna placement around the county. (Towers built for that purpose and water supply tanks) There will not be any new antenna placed back on the courthouse.
