Ok- I need to talk about the courthouse even with the snow. There was a lot going on in this one picture. I have tried to show three different repair components we utilized throughout the courthouse on these Jack arches. The reasons for each one is complex, mostly driven by cost, safety and conditions of the original Jack Arch. One is a complete replacement with a steel flat deck that is topped with concrete. Another shows flat steel welded in place with the arch filled with brick to support the Jack Arch. The third is a rolled 4-inch angle iron that matches the curve of the jack arch welded in place to support the arch in places where we need to cut a hole for HVAC. We want to make sure every Jack arch is solid so everything stands for another hundred years without fail.
