I’ve added more Jack arch pics so you can appreciate the original architectural and engineering work, as well as the current challenges. The original plan was not to remove the plaster from all of them. Selective plaster removal was planned to allow proper evaluation of their condition. What we found was “concerning, very concerning”, so we removed all the plaster coverings. Zoom in and you can see areas where the bricks are missing and sagging. That’s very bad! The black painted squares are areas that need to be cut to provide HVAC ducts. The one pic with a triangular opening, never had any brick arch, so you can imagine what can happen when bricks in this system fail or are removed. Have you ever played with Jenga blocks? Stay tuned tomorrow to see the solution.
