Commissioner Dan Kinsel was appointed to serve the citizens of Perry County on January 4, 2024.
Perry County Commissioner Dan Kinsel is a Perry County native and a graduate of Miller High School. Dan and Kym Kinsel, now residing in New Lexington, have been married since 1986. Together they began and operate several local area businesses. They have three grown daughters, one grandson, and four granddaughters.
Commissioner Kinsel began his career working for the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in 1987. During his thirty-two years with the State of Ohio Commissioner Kinsel was recognized as Employee of the Year for the State of Ohio, for saving the State more than 2.6 million dollars in utility cost. Commissioner Kinsel helped the State of Ohio partner with The Ohio State University to develop a program to minimize waste as the Horseshoe Stadium, saving both the State and University thousands. Commissioner Kinsel also began a rainbow trout fish hatchery within the State, providing a food resource for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
After retirement from the State of Ohio in 2019, Commissioner Kinsel went to work for New Lexington City Schools , where he is currently employed.
Commissioner Kinsel’s pastimes include hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his grandkids.
