Perry County Auditor Derek Householder will speak at this month’s Coffee with Some Commissioners breakfast.

Derek will provide updates regarding the Perry County Auditor’s office, explain some of the forms available to help landowners, and touch a bit on the different types of levies (ex: Additional, Replacement, and Renewal).

Our County Auditor is responsible for things such as:

• Financial reporting: Oversees the county’s financial records and ensures that all expenditures are in line with the budget
•  Payroll: Handles payroll for county employees, including withholding and deductions
• Audit claims: Reviews all claims against the county to ensure they are legitimate and accurate, and recommends whether to pay or reject them
• Property tax administration: Manages the property tax system, including calculating mill levies, preparing bills, and collecting taxes
• Special audits: Assesses risk across the county to identify the most effective audit areas
• Sealing measuring devices like gas pumps and scales
• Appraising and assessing property
• Licensing dogs and vendors
• Calculating taxes and administering assessments
• Administering tax exemptions
