The Court of Common Pleas in Perry County, Ohio has jurisdiction over all felony cases, such as drug trafficking, burglary, rape and felonious assault. The Court has jurisdiction over all divorces, dissolutions and annulments. When litigants do not wish to terminate their marriage, the Court also handles custody and child support.
Civil cases such as foreclosures, personal injury, workers compensation and civil protection orders are also under the jurisdiction of the Court of Common Pleas.

Perry County Municipal Court has a Criminal Division and a Civil Division. The Criminal Division handles traffic cases and misdemeanor criminal cases. The Civil Division handles complaints up to $15,000, small claims up to $6,000 and eviction cases.

Perry County, Ohio Probate Court issues marriage licenses, oversees testamentary trusts, has jurisdiction over probate of wills, guardianships, adoptions, legal name changes, registration of birth, minor settlements, estate administration, genealogy research, civil actions, and appointments of county boards and commissions.
Perry County, Ohio Juvenile Court hears cases involving youth under the age of 18 years old. Such cases include unruly, delinquent, abused, dependent and neglected children, as well as cases that involve traffic offenses. Jurisdiction of the Court also includes adult paternity cases, nonsupport, visitation, and custody of children whose parents are unmarried as well as child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Perry County, Ohio Prosecutor’s Office represents Perry County in civil and criminal cases. The Office works with county police agencies to investigate and prepare for upcoming trials, conducts court and jury trials, investigates claims of misconduct of county government officials, and maintains records of tried criminal cases and other work completed in the court.

The Perry County, Ohio Sheriff Office‘s primary role is to preserve the public peace and serve the community. These duties include arrests of anyone guilty of disturbing that peace or otherwise breaking the law, as well as operating the county jail and transporting prisoners. The Office is also responsible for serving legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, and law suits, as well as providing courtroom security.
The Office oversees police services and security for special events in the county, enforces traffic laws, and works with programs such as the Comprehensive Substance Abuse Program (CSAP), which helps residents who are high-risk for addiction or recovering addicts gain employment skills.
