The Perry County Sheriff Office‘s primary role is to preserve the public peace and serve the community. These duties include arrests of anyone guilty of disturbing that peace or otherwise breaking the law, as well as operating the county jail and transporting prisoners. This office is also responsible for serving legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, and law suits, as well as providing courtroom security.
However, the Sheriff’s Office is responsible for much more than serving court orders and detaining those charged with crimes. To better serve the community, the Sheriff oversees police services and security for special events in the county, enforces traffic laws, and works with programs such as the Comprehensive Substance Abuse Program (CSAP), which helps residents who are high-risk for addiction or recovering addicts gain employment skills.
